Skip the chaos of endless, mixed-up chats and set up a clear workflow in Rivers right away. Create a Cube for every initiative, course, or club. Inside that Cube, add Channels for ongoing streams such as General, Design, or Ops. For each decision or subtopic, open a Topic so all replies stay in one place and context doesn’t scatter. Example: a Cube named “Website Refresh” with Channels for General, Design, and QA, plus Topics like “Sprint 14 Plan” and “Navbar A/B Test.” Invite teammates or classmates by link or email and ask them to post in the right Topic to keep things tidy. Tune notifications per Channel so you only hear what matters. Messages and files stay synchronized across phone, laptop, and desktop, letting you pick up a thread from anywhere.
When work appears, turn conversation into action. Inside any Topic, add a Task with an owner, due date, and checklist. Attach the spec, spreadsheet, or mockups—document sharing has no limits—then keep all follow-ups inside the same thread. Use private Topics for sensitive matters like hiring, budgets, or grades. During standups, drop quick updates in the sprint Topic; when a decision lands, post a concise summary so the final call is easy to find. If something spans multiple groups, share a Topic link into another Channel instead of retyping the discussion. Use due dates to drive weekly priorities, and post Task links in meeting notes to keep everyone accountable. more
